ELIJAH by Antic Clay (MB solo acoustic)

When Broom of Fire is completed this year, this song will be included.

Elijah

Well I woke up this morning, clear as a bell I believe I was dreaming at the edge of a wishing well I was casting a line but some were casting spells Hocked down a black spittoon to pit you against yourself Y’all sing along got a song for you children in hell Some ye hung among fork a tongue since they learn how to tell A truer word through a cloak aint never been spoken Crows joke and peck at your scaffold and laugh while you’re choking Elijah! Elijah! The child says to me you know this way leads to dust it’s my destiny to say to you it must It behooves you friend to know why the wind is blowing Tonight in the light lies all idea of knowing Elijah! Elijah! Woe unto him who been workin in the dark And hearken to the beat of a beast with a certain mark These crows did depose me down in the mud While a mosquito rose and showed me mine own blood Elijah! Elijah! Well doesn’t nobody out there care I can barely bear it The meek’ll wonder what it’s worth, what they inherit It’s a mystery built in the dust of the tome on the shelf It’s like history repeating itself It’s like history repeating itself

Antic Clay Solo Acoustic at Porchfest 2021

Antic Clay Solo Acoustic at Porchfest 2021

Antic Clay (myself) solo acoustic from 1 to 2 p.m. at 136 Ansley Street, Saturday, October 9th. Will I wear a mask? No.

Here’s the tentative set:

ELIJAH

THEATER IN A CROWDED FIRE

ALL RISE

LANDLOCKED BLUES

IT GOES DOWN SO EASY

SULPHUR

DIAMOND IN THE DARK

IF WISHES WERE HORSES

STANDARD IS POOR

MARIE (Townes Van Zandt)

GONE LONG AGO

GOOD TIMES AROUND THE BEND

LOVE LETTER (Nick Cave)

COHEN?

I’m getting more comfortable/confident with originals, in the sense that I don’t so much care about catering to an audience. Particularly events such as Porchfest, which are full of young families, children frolicking; it’s tempting to simply play tunes that make people happy.  So I’ve wrestled with bringing heavier originals to these settings. But not today. I feel compelled to blast a voice through a yuppified neighborhood. We shall see…

Live in Budapest December 8, 2019

https://www.facebook.com/events/734505327045220/

Antic Clay (Michael Bradley solo) dives back into wonderful Budapest in a solo show featuring songs from 2020’s forthcoming “Broom of Fire” as well as selections from “Hilarious Death Blues” and covers and who-knows general revelry. The goal is to take the whole band back to Europe in late 2020.

Merry Goats in Prague

Thank you for a very nice set at a very local bistro in Prague – everyone was so gracious and appreciative. Only a few spoke English – and so once again music is the universal means of communication. I will return!

The Standard Is Poor

Hello! I’m happy to announce I’ll be playing a show somewhere in Budapest in early December. Details on that to come. Meanwhile, here’s a new original from the forthcoming album. Rough draft. Feedback welcome. Well, maybe. 🙂
