ELIJAH by Antic Clay (MB solo acoustic)

When Broom of Fire is completed this year, this song will be included.

Elijah

Well I woke up this morning, clear as a bell I believe I was dreaming at the edge of a wishing well I was casting a line but some were casting spells Hocked down a black spittoon to pit you against yourself Y’all sing along got a song for you children in hell Some ye hung among fork a tongue since they learn how to tell A truer word through a cloak aint never been spoken Crows joke and peck at your scaffold and laugh while you’re choking Elijah! Elijah! The child says to me you know this way leads to dust it’s my destiny to say to you it must It behooves you friend to know why the wind is blowing Tonight in the light lies all idea of knowing Elijah! Elijah! Woe unto him who been workin in the dark And hearken to the beat of a beast with a certain mark These crows did depose me down in the mud While a mosquito rose and showed me mine own blood Elijah! Elijah! Well doesn’t nobody out there care I can barely bear it The meek’ll wonder what it’s worth, what they inherit It’s a mystery built in the dust of the tome on the shelf It’s like history repeating itself It’s like history repeating itself

Beware of Darkness

Video by Catherine Duike

I’ll be singing George Harrison’s “Beware of Darkness” tonight at our local Star Community Bar, as part of the annual St. George Birthday Bash, along with a bevy of other great local singers, backed by the Metro Atlanta Dark Horse Orchestra. Can I admit I was totally unfamiliar with this song, until I was invited to sing it? I’ve transposed some of George’s highs into lower harmonies, I think it will sound OK without deflating the power and mystery of the original.

From the event posting:

It’s Twue! It’s Twue! And It’s All Too Much! Come celebrate the great George Harrison’s birthday as an all-star roster of local singers take on the Quiet One’s greatest hits — from the Fab Four the Traveling Wilburys — backed by the Metro Atlanta Dark Horse Orchestra. * All proceeds will go to support the Amphibian Foundation and George’s own Material World Foundation.*Special guest singers scheduled include:
K Michelle DuBois * Blake Rainey * Kenny Howes * Jeff Evans * Slim Chance * Carrie Hodge * Monica Arrington * Susan Holbrook * Mary O Harrison * Brandon Arnold * Tom Browning * Michael Bradley * Dan McNeil * Dan Cooper * Brian Malone * Michael Hodgin * Michael Hunter * and more!

But also from the event posting, and this bullshit needs to end (asterisk #2):

* Tix: https://www.freshtix.com/…/1st-annual-saint-george…
* Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for entry.
* This will be a non-smoking show.
* A splendid time is guaranteed for all. See less

What would Sir George think about mandatory, experimental government injections that have been proven ineffective and even harmful, in order to enjoy music together? //MB
